Philosophy in action at BPPC 2007
Course Design Workshop BPPC 2007
The BPPA is a volunteer association of postgrad philosophy students in the UK and Republic of Ireland. Our association is born out of the conviction that left to their own devices, too many postgrad philosophers tend to read Kripke or Heidegger alone in the dark. As a result, most of our energies are directed towards helping young philosophers bridge the geographical boundaries between their different universities and departments and make contact with each other. If you are a postgrad philosophy student, we live in the hope that our activities will make you a happier person, a better philosopher, or both.
» You can also join us on the BPPA Facebook homepage.
On this website you'll find all sorts of interactive community goodness, including discussion forums, an events' diary, job postings and more; but to see the really good stuff you have to register. We welcome registrations from postgraduates of any discipline — not just philosophy! — in the UK or Republic of Ireland. Registration normally takes just thirty seconds so sign up, have a look around, and join in the fun.
The BPPA is best known as the proud parent of the BPPC (the conference formerly known as the NPAPC!), one of Britain's longest running, best attended and most fun postgraduate philosophy conferences. In addition, we also organise a twice-yearly series of Philosophy Masterclasses.
For more information on the BPPA, please visit the About Us page or contact the Executive Committee with your questions and feedback. Our best ideas come from our members, so we're always happy to hear from you.
New BPPA Logo
The new BPPA logo featuring a Yellow Socrates (and not, as you might think, Grandpa Simpson) is based on the winning design in our recent logo competition sponsored by Philosophy Now! magazine. The winning design came from Mark Cortes Favis, an MPhil/PhD candidate in Cultural Studies at Goldsmith's College, University of London. Mark won a year's subscription to Philosophy Now! and an iPod Shuffle.
