Research postgraduates are invited to apply for the 5th Masterclass of the British Postgraduate Philosophy Association: Issues in Early Analytic Philosophy with Dr. Mike Beaney and Prof. Peter Hylton. The 2-day Masterclass will be held at the University of East Anglia, Norwich on 26/27th March 2009.
The BPPA Masterclass series offers selected research students in philosophy the chance to work with leading academics in their field. The residential setting, small group size and workshop format combine to create an atmosphere that fosters both a high level of individual work and a collaborative development of ideas. During the Masterclass, participants will develop and discuss their own ideas via small group presentations under the direction of the 'Masters', who will respond to these presentations, and in addition will give a paper for discussion on their current work.
We are happy to confirm that this 5th Masterclass will be led by Dr. Mike Beaney, whose edited publications include The Analytic Turn: Analysis in Early Analytic Philosophy and Phenomenology (2007) and The Frege Reader (1997) and Prof. Peter Hylton, whose publications include Russell, Idealism, and the Emergence of Analytic Philosophy (1990) and Quine (2007).
If you would like to be considered for a place, please send an expression of interest, including a brief description of your area of research and how you hope to benefit from and contribute to the BPPA Masterclass to the following address: Simon.Summers@uea.ac.uk.
The deadline for applications is 8th December 2008. Shortlisted applicants will be asked to send further details in due course.
The 5th BPPA Masterclass is made possible by the generous funding of the British Society for the History of Philosophy and the Subject Centre for Philosophy and Religious Studies.
